Jinotepe: Young Children's Home

The second home on the Jinotepe campus was completed in June 2006 and will be used as a home for young boys and girls, between the ages of 6 and 8 years old. Arms of Love Nicaragua is currently seeking to receive young children into our program, as this gives us the maximum opportunity to impact the lives of the children over the long term. Moreover, some of the "temporary protection centers" in Nicaragua only care for children until they are six years of age, and then they need to be released to other facilities. At this very young age, boys and girls can live in the same house (in separate bedrooms), and once they turn 8 years old, they can "move up" to other homes on the campus that are dedicated to either "older boys" or "older girls."

The second home in Jinotepe is pictured above. All of the photos were taken as construction was being completed and before any children moved in. The photos show the exterior of the house and the interior recreational area. Since the home was planned for younger children, the entirety of central area was designed as a large covered "play" area, rather than having a central area exposed to the sun & rain with growing plants, as in the other homes.
