Jinotepe: Boy's Home
The
first children's home on the Jinotepe campus opened in the
summer of 2005 and immediately began accommodating the first
12 boys in our program. This home, pictured below, will
continue to serve as a "boys home" in future years. Shown in
the photos are the outside of the house, the houseparents'
bedroom, the interior atrium in the center of the house, and
one of the staff sewing with one of the boys in a
multi-purpose room.
When completed, five homes similar to this one will
accommodate about 50 children plus resident staff. Each home
contains seven rooms, which include two large bedrooms for
the children, two bedrooms for resident staff, a kitchen and
dining room. and two additional rooms that can be shared
between the multiple homes and used for multiple purposes
such as computer labs, library, sewing, studying, vocational
education, and so forth. Although each home contains the
same floorplan, the exterior of each home will be slightly
different, so each home will have a unique appearance.
