Where We Work:
Brazil
Arms
of Love has partnered with the Grove City Vineyard in
Columbus, Ohio, and Project AmaZon (PAZ), a church planting
movement in the Amazon Basin of Brazil, to establish an Arms
of Love Children's Home in Castanhal, Brazil.
Scott and Becky Joellenbeck, a
couple from the Grove City Vineyard, moved to Brazil in
February 2005 to begin a year of training that included
language school and a full-time training program in working
with children at risk in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. During this
time, construction of the directors' home was completed on
the 30 acre property that has already been purchased for the
home.
As
of mid-2006, about 60% of the first $50,000 had been raised
for the construction of the first children's home. The Grove
City Vineyard started a capital campaign in the fall of 2006
to raise funds for the development of the project, and it is
anticipated that the children's home will begin receiving
children some time in 2007. The children's home will be a
ministry of the PAZ church in Castanhal.
